Scope of occupational health examinations

Counselling

Before every stay abroad, a counselling about the peculiar climatic conditions, medical stresses and strains, and treatment options on site is mandatory. This counselling includes information about malaria prophylaxis and vaccinations.

First examination

If stays of more than 3 months are planned, a medical examination has to be done before departure. In case of another stay abroad, a new examination is not mandatory if the first examination was done during the last year;  a counselling, however, is necessary in all cases.

Follow up examinations

These are necessary if

• the employee has suffered diseases while abroad
• according to medical judgement
• when the employee travels into another country with different disease burdens.

Also on demand if the employee suspects a causal relationship between a disease and his workplace.
